Welcome to my blog about urban vermicomposting!

Heyo folks! My name is Akil and I'm the founder of The Box Of Life and this is the beginning of a series of stories documenting my personal journey of starting a Worm Studio at my home in Ottawa. I started The Box Of Life to help make vermicomposting mainstream because it is a shame that more people don't know how viable a solution it is to make our world less trashy and our soils more healthy. And I'd like to share my stories with you in the hopes that it inspires you to start, and motivates you to continue building a composting habit!

If you're new to vermicomposting, a bit of a caveat - I started my first worm farm back in 2017 so I'm not new to this rodeo. I'm probably not going to make too many mistakes as you will, but that's okay. We all make mistakes, heck I made so many mistakes when I started, and I still continue to do so. But the important thing is to learn from these mistakes and not give up! And I don't want any of you to give up either. So I'm sharing a glimpse into my journey with the hopes that you will compare it with yours and if you wanted to, please say hello in the comments below!

My box is very wet, overflows the tray. We freeze the material, thaw and serve. We don’t add other moisture. Any ideas of what is causing this. The smell is unbearable.
